Fan Liu Yuan (CYF) is a rich sophisticated
man-of-the world. He pursues women until
they succumb to his charm, and then dumps
them or takes them as a mistress. He is
introduced to an unsophisticated women
(Cora Miao) from Shanghai who is divorced
and looking for more in life than living with her
family. She is fascinated and attracted to Fan,
but she knows if she succumbs he will never
marry her. She finally gives in and begins the
life of a mistress. Fan is leaving on business,
and will not return to Hsu for some time when
the Japanese invade Hong Kong. Surprisingly
Fan returns to Hsu and they try to escape the
invading Japanese together. Times are
difficult for them, but Fan becomes a different
person as they face the invasion, and wants to
marry Hsu.
