The shooting for Aunt's Postmodern Life has ended and since Chow Yun Fat and Vicki Zhao's parts were already over with, they left earlier. The female lead Siqin Gaowa was at the celebratory banquet and appeared emotional. She sang two Mongolian songs and refused any interview. The workers had to ward off the press as she left.

12/20/05 After all of the freezing weather, dealing with the wig and opera, CYF is through with his part filming of the movie, and will now be heading back to Hong Kong for the holidays. A press conference was held with the cast and crew before he had to run, and catch a plane to Hong Kong. CYF was his glib self as he told why he accepted the movie for the role, in appreciation to Ann Hui, and to work with Siqin.
12/06/05 In a park in Shanghai where they are filming the press saw Chow Yun-Fat for the first time wearing the wig for the movie. A shaven heading CYF was seen from a hotel balcony earlier. Braving a very cold day he and Siqin shivered there way through the filming, and put on warmer coats when the cameras were not on them.
11/26/05 CYF begins filming. Last night at the building they have been using for the filming for over a month CYF began filming. There was heavy security to keep any photos of him being taken by the press as they are interested in not revealing what he will look like in the film. Verification of him performing Peking opera was in the article. (Rednet.com)
11/25/05 On November 21st Chow Yun-Fat arrived in Shanghai to join the others in filming. The press was constantly trying to catch a glimpse of him at the hotel where he was staying, but except for a dinner of 20 for his arrival he stayed out of site the first few days. When he did go out there seemed to be a spirited chase through the city with the press in pursuit. The building where they have been shooting is occupied, but they have been there at odd hours to avoid people. However, there have been numerous complaints that the company is making noise, and blocking areas.
09/30/05 Chow Yun-Fat to join The Aunt's Postmodern Life in November Article: September 30, 2005 Source: http://ent.sina.com.cn/m/c/2005-09-30/0946855381.html
My Aunt's Postmodern Life will start rolling on October 16 in Shanghai. At the moment, Chow Yun Fat is learning Beijing Opera because in the movie, he plays an opera singer who moved from Canton to Shanghai. His operatic skills are so good that he attracts the attention of the frequent opera viewer Siqin Gaowa. Even Vickie Zhao the daughter pays attention to Chow as a result.
However, because Chow is very busy filming the Pirates of the Carribean and practicing Beijing Opera, he would not attend the film opening ceremony on the day but would join the filming only in November.
The movie will cost 40,000,000 RMB and the producer will be Jiao Xiong Ping, scriptwriter Li Qiang, film editor Liao Qing Song (from A City of Sadness, The Wedding Banquet) and the photographer Guan Ben Liang from 2046.
